NSW Election 2023 – Agriculture face-off

Friday 24 February 2023

12:00 for 12:30pm

The 2023 State election promises to be a nail-biter, and regional New South Wales could be the place where a new government is won, or an old one returned.

Four years ago, drought dominated the political debate. In 2023, after years of rain, battered infrastructure is the topic on the lips of most people living in the bush.

Only one side can win – the question is, whose policies will find favour with voters across regional New South Wales?

Our first seminar of 2023 will feature the only face-to-face battle in Sydney between the Minister for Agriculture and Western NSW, the Hon Dugald Saunders MP, and the Shadow Minister for Regional NSW, Agriculture and Western NSW, the Hon Mick Veitch MLC.

Join Farm Writers as they give their respective pitches for the agriculture sector ahead of the election.

It is also a chance to check out our new lunch venue, the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.

2:00pm 10 Feb - we are aware of an issue with payment processing.  Please continue to book your places and we will follow up payments directly with you, once the payment issues are identified and resolved.

The Hon Dugald Saunders MP was elected to the NSW Legislative Assembly representing the National Party for the electorate of Dubbo at the 2019 election. He was appointed to the Ministry in December 2021. Prior to serving in the parliament, Minister Saunders was a broadcaster and ABC breakfast radio host.

The Hon Mick Veitch MLC was first-elected to the NSW Legislative Council in 2007 representing the Australian Labor Party, and was re-elected in 2015. He has served as a Parliamentary Secretary and a shadow minister covering portfolios such as primary industries, trade and investment, regional infrastructure, lands and rural affairs. Mr Veitch hails from Tumut.
